As part of Project 2024, a success story of Mothers Care India will be published each month. "Smile a Month" aims to highlight the colossal impact that Mothers Care India has on the lives of those we support.
Anita Aind was 10 years old and in Grade 6 when she joined the Mothers Care India programme in 2012. Both of her parents are from Jharkhand, India, and do some odd jobs in Noida, India. Anita has one brother. Anita was supported by Mothers Care until pre- university and went on to complete general nursing, graduating o the summer of 2023 under the Mothers Care India Leap Programme.
Today, Anita is a staff nurse at St Joseph's Hospital, Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, India. She credits her success to the support and educational assistance she received under Mothers Care. Anita says that if she had not received this support, she would not have been able to get out of the cycle of poverty in which she was in. Anita is proud to be a professional health worker today. Outwith work Anita enjoys dancing and drawing.
